The mechanism is for fixing and tensioning multiple saw blade arrangements, and has a stnad (1) with four legs (4). A height adjustable frame (120) is set into the stand. The saw blades (5) are located in slots formed by a series of spacing blocks (6) which are located on adjustable bars. The saw blades have opening at either end through which a connecting rod is passed. The rod at both ends of the saw blades are catch connected to a tensioning device.
