Method of mounting O=rings - has O=rings orientated for positioning with hollow mandrel
摘要
The method is for the automatic application of O-rings (4) to annular grooves (2) on parts (1) of rotary symmetry. The parts (1) and the O-rings are first placed in a transfer station in the correct orientation. The first part (10) in this station is transferred to an outlet position which is co-axial with a vertical axis (11). A part conical hollow mandrel (14,15) is placed under the part (10) co-axial with its centreline. An O-ring (4) is placed between jaws (20) of a holding fixture. The jaws (20) can be opened up, to allow the O-rings to expand over the conical mandrel. The part (10) is next lowered inside the mandrel. Part (10) and mandrel are together lowered to engage with the O-ring (19). Part (10) and the mandrel are further lowered till the O-ring is in line with the groove in which it is to be mounted. The mandrel and part are then ejected by a rod (23). ADVANTAGE - Assembly of the O-rings is continuous and fully automatic.
