The method of achieving defined grinding involves a first learning process with a defined feed rate and in which the characteristic grinding curve is determined from the variations of the radial or tangential force along the grinding curve and transferred to the machine controller. A subsequent correction process involves taking account of the effect on the grinding curve of the structure of the disc surface and of the grinding program. The results are used to influence the feed rate during subsequent processing to compensate for structural changes. ADVANTAGE - Reduces negative effects of structural differences of grinding disc on achieved surface quality.
