<p>An organ preservation apparatus (10) including an organ-receiving chamber (12), a pulsatile pump (14) in continuous uninterrupted liquid communication with the organ-receiving chamber (12), and a fluid delivery tube (16) interconnected between the organ-receiving chamber (12) and the pulsatile pump (14). The pulsatile pump (14) is configured to pass an organ preservation fluid to the organ-receiving chamber (12) in a dichrotic pulse pattern. The organ-receiving chamber has an outer box (18) with an insulated interior area (22), an organ-receiving cassette (20) removably contained within the insulated interior area, and a lid (22) detachably fastened to the outer box (18). The pulsatile pump (14) includes a bladder pump (80), a motor (72), and a cam connected to the motor (72). The cam is connected to an actuator so as to compress the bladder pump (80) in a dichrotic pulse pattern. A pressure transducer is connected to the fluid passageway between the pulsatile pump (14) and the organ-receiving chamber (12) so as to measure diastolic and systolic fluid pressure.</p> |
