PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide knock sensor systems and methods applied to detection of component conditions.SOLUTION: An ECU 34 includes receiving a signal representative of an engine vibration transmitted from a knock sensor 32 disposed in an engine 12, and derives an engine condition during operation of the engine. The method includes: correlating the engine condition to the signal via a lookup table, the lookup table comprising at least a first column and a second column, where the first column is representative of a knock sensor time window and the second column is representative of a position range of a component of the engine; and communicating the engine condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
