Testing procedure for valves and seals on liquefied gas cylinders

The procedure provides monitoring of the seal of a valve (106,107) and one or more joints (110) of the valve (120) which is fitted to a liquefied gas cylinder. The valve and the joints are tested separated and successively. The procedure includes encasing the end of the valve with a mobile head (30) which comprises a structure defining a cavity (32) with an opening (33) of a shape which is complementary to the valve output. This allows the head and valve to be put together with a small degree of play. An input of the cavity (34) is connected to a source of carrier gas (36) via a channel (42). The output from the cavity is connected to a detector (37) responding to the presence of within the cavity of any of the gas which has escaped from the liquefied gas cylinder.
