BEARING DEVICE There is provided a bearing device for a pair of cylinders, in particular for processing sheets or webs of paper, fabric, film, plastics, metal or other material, the spacing between the cylinders being adjustable, each cylinder having a journal running in a respective pair of bearings carried by a frame, one of the bearings of the journal of one said cylinder and one of the bearings of the journal of the other cylinder being disposed in a common auxiliary housing carried by the frame, the device including means for subjecting the bearings disposed in the auxiliary housing to pressure, wherein the other or main bearing of each journal is held against translational movement relative the frame, the auxiliary housing comprises two parts, one part carrying said one bearing of the journal of one of the cylinders and the other part carrying said one bearing of the journal of the other cylinder, said parts being connected together and the spacing between the parts being relatively adjustable, said means for applying pressure comprising at least one pressure medium cylinder arranged to apply pressure to the bearings disposed in the auxiliary housing to adjust the position of at least one of those bearings. |
