<p>The present invention relates to a multi-valve internal combustion engine having a combustion chamber defined at least partially by a cylinder head assembly (43) fixed in sealing relation to an associated cylinder block (45), said cylinder head assembly comprising intake (85,88) and exhaust passages (66,67) which lead to or lead from a plurality of intake and exhaust valves (72) for controlling the feeding and discharging of a combustion chamber, wherein a first intake passage (85) extends from a first inlet opening which is provided at the external surface of the cylinder head assembly to a first valve seat communicating with the cylinder bore. Moreover, said first intake passage (85) extends generally perpendicularly to a main plane containing the axes of the associated cylinder bore, whereas a second intake passage (88) which is of a siamese type extends from a second inlet opening provided at the external surface of the cylinder head assembly to second and third valve seats communicating with the cylinder bore, said second intake passage diverging from said inlet opening and dividing into a pair of sections each communicating with a respective one of said second and third valve seats, said second intake passage being generally disposed at an acute angle to said main plane. <IMAGE></p> |
