11 For the reduction of the formation of dioxin and/or furan it is suggested to increase the SO3/SO2 ratio in the combustion gas so that a minimum SO3 content of 10 mg/m3 is obtained. The maximum content therein is not to exceed 500 mg/m3. The ratio SO3/SO2 can be modified by adding SO3 or also catalysts or oxidizing agents which convert SO2 to SO3 while maintaining the same total quantity of sulfur. Constructionally is suggested a steam generator whose steel structures coming into contact with the combustion gases are either alloyed with tungsten and/or vanadium or are coated at the combustion-gas side.
