In the performance of density gradient centrifugation back mixing after centrifugation is prevented by placing a snugly fitted layering insert within the vessel. The insert is capable of supporting the body of liquid dispersion to be centrifuged under regular gravity condition and enables bi-directional cross-flow during centrifugation.
