<p>The device, intended for tamping ballast under sleepers, comprises a tamping unit (1) comprising a pair of tamping tools (9, 9') mounted in opposition on a tool support (2) which can be moved heightwise. The tools are provided with a vibration generator device (3, 3', 4, 4'). The actuation of the clamping movement is imparted to each of the tools by means of clamping connection rods (11, 11') mounted pivotably (12, 12') on the tool support (2). Tool holder arms (8, 8') are mounted pivotably (13, 13') on the tool support, so that the pivoting of the clamping connection rods about the pivots (12, 12') leads to clamping of the tools. The pivot pins (13, 13') are arranged at a level lower than that of the pivots (12, 12'), the result of which is that the penetration forces and the clamping forces are taken up by the pins (13, 13'), then by the pivots (12, 12'), to be transmitted to the tool support (2). <IMAGE></p> |
