The invention relates to an alternator circuit, in particular for a motor vehicle, of the type comprising: an alternator (AN) provided with an excitation winding (IND), rectifying means (D, DT) provided at the output of the alternator for the link thereof with a battery (B), means (REG) for controlling the excitation of the alternator as a function of the charge of the latter, a lamp (LT) for indicating faults, and means (DT) for turning the lamp off when a voltage (D+) delivered by the alternator reaches a certain level. According to the invention, there are furthermore provided means for priority start-up control (A1, CT1, Q3, Q4) which are capable of carrying out, for a certain limited period upon the starting up of an associated combustion engine, control such that the said voltage reaches a level which is equal to or slightly greater than the said certain level whilst limiting the flow from the alternator to in-service electric loads connected to the output of the rectifier means and to the battery.

|
