<p>A differential mechanism (10) comprising two output cam members (16, 17), each having a single annular cam surface (22, 23) thereon, comprising pairs of inclined surfaces. Relative contra rotation of said output cam members (16, 17) causes cam followers (28) to slide axially, and housing (11) engages the followers (28) which are slideably supported by the housing (11) moving the followers circumferentially relative to the output cam members. The two cam output members (16, 17) are thrust axial against the housing (11) during drive of the cam output members (16, 17) through the followers (28) and at least one cam output member (17) acts against the housing (11) through a friction thrust washer (51). This allows control of the torque ratio between inside and outside output shafts in a corner.</p> |
