The disclosure relates to a container for storing in a sterile condition a treatment instrument such as a dental instrument which is dedicated to be used for treatment of only a designated individual or group of individuals. The container includes structure forming a housing having an interior portion for receiving a treatment instrument therein, the housing being closed at one end portion thereof and having an open additional end portion through which a treatment instrument can be passed. A cover is provided for closing the additional open end portion of the housing after the sterilizing of the housing and a treatment instrument disposed therein. The container and the treatment instrument are each provided with related indicia to identify the same designated individual or group of individuals. The disclosure also relates to the container being adapted to contain a liquid material which is used to clean the treatment instrument in the interior portion of the housing when ultrasonic energy is applied to the liquid material. The disclosure also relates to a method of storing in a sterile condition a treatment instrument which is dedicated as shown by indicia thereon to be used for treatment of only a designated individual or group of individuals. The method includes providing a container including a housing formed of material capable of withstanding elevated temperatures required to sterilize the housing and a treatment instrument when disposed within the interior portion thereof. When a treatment instrument bearing indicia is placed in the container bearing related indicia, a cover is positioned over to close the housing, after which the sterilizing of the housing and the treatment instrument disposed therein takes place. Thereafter the sterilized containers and instruments are stored for future treatment of the designated individual or individuals identified by the indicia. |
