The subject of the invention is a rolling mill comprising, inside a stand (cage) (3), a plurality of stacked rolls, respectively two working rolls (1, 1') and at least back-up rolls (2, 2'), each including a cylindrical work table (21) extending between two lateral sidewalls (23) and two journals (22) each carried by a chock (4, 4') consisting of a case (40) surrounding the bearing (5) of the journal and including external members (6) extending outside the case (40), beyond an internal lateral face (41) of the latter, the said face facing the roll (2). According to the invention each back-up roll (2) is equipped, on each of the lateral sidewalls (23) flanking the work table (21), with a circular groove (7) into which may be engaged, at least partially, the external members (6) associated with the chock (4) and extending towards the said lateral sidewall (23), so that the work table (21) can cover the greatest width (L) compatible with the separation (L1) of the uprights of the stand. <IMAGE> |
