Each mobile unit (10) and relay station (12), spaced out along the transmission path has an emitter-receiver. The relay stations are connected in a chain with a fixed station (14). Each relay station has a demodulator and a measuring device for the strength of the received electromagnetic field and a comparator to evaluate it with those of the two neighbouring stations. Each relay station is connected by a communication bus (16) to the fixed station, by a cable link (18) receiving line occupancy signals, and by bidirectional lines (19) transmitting the signal field strengths. The decision module also prevents transmission of information on the bus to the fixed station when frame errors render the signal quality insufficient. USE/ADVANTAGE - For automatically driven transport vehicles, underground systems. Simple configuration. Noise suppressed by FM and very high dynamic range.
