Method for carrying out work in an area of ground on site comprises drilling a hole in the ground, and positioning a porous pipe in the said hole in order to convey a treatment medium into the ground and/or to convey groundwater or contamination out of the ground and/or in order to arrange inspection sensors in the ground. The hole is drilled from a first side of the area of ground, in starting positions ranging from vertical up to and including at an angle through to horizontal, in straight and/or horizontally curved and/or vertically curved states, towards the location which is to be treated or inspected, or from a second side of the area of ground, in such a manner that the hole runs horizontally at least in a section of the ground and that the porous pipe is arranged essentially at the location of or in the vicinity of the horizontal section of the hole. In this way, the porous pipe can be positioned even in a ground and/or area to which it is difficult to gain access.
