PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cooling loss in a compression self ignition engine.SOLUTION: On a lower surface of a cylinder head 13, a head-side recess 13a is formed, with an inner wall inclined downward from the radial center toward the outside. A piston 14 is configured such that a piston-side recess 14a is formed at the central part of its crown surface, and a squish generating part 14c is formed on the radial outside of the piston-side recess 14a on the crown surface continuously to the piston-side recess 14a in order to generate a squish flow S, flowing along the inner wall of the head-side recess 13a from the radial outside toward the center in a later phase of the compression stroke, together with the inner wall of the head-side recess 13a. A fuel injection valve 17 injects fuel mist into the piston-side recess 14a. |
