PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grate-type waste incinerator capable of reducing the amount of hazardous substance generation, and performing the incineration of waste with ease using a low air ratio, and to provide a waste incineration method.SOLUTION: A grate-type waste incinerator includes: a combustion chamber which has a height of ≤3 m, includes a grate and combusts waste on the grate: a primary air blowing means for blowing primary combustion air from below the grate into the combustion chamber; a hot gas blowing means for blowing hot gas downward from a ceiling of the combustion chamber to an area between a combustion starting area and a main combustion area in the combustion chamber; and a gas blowing means for secondary combustion which blows gas for secondary combustion into a secondary combustion area. The hot gas blowing means has a plurality of hot gas blowing ports. By blowing hot gas opposing the upward flow of combustible gas and combustion gas generated from the waste, a stagnation area or a circulation area is formed immediately above a waste layer to provide a stable planar combustion area. By setting the arrangement and the position or the like of the hot gas blowing ports, the state of the planar combustion area is set to be a desired one. |
