A sealable transfer element comprises a heat transfer plate with a sealing groove 3 which runs round a heat transfer surface and passage openings (4, figure 1) and in which a seal 2, 2a, which is integrally provided with fastening means, is non-adhesively fastened. For this purpose angularly profiled passages (9, figures 7 - 12) are provided in the grooves. The seal is provided at its base with round plugs 6 and recesses 7 surrounding the plugs. The diameter of each plug is slightly greater than the diameter of a notional inscribed circle in an associated passage. The passages are preferably provided in a series of pedestals arranged in the base of the groove, the height and width of which pedestals is less than the height and width of the groove. The recess around each plug is preferably such that it has the size and shape of an associated pedestal. <IMAGE>
