Music and speech player on telephone hold line - mixes LF analog speech and music signals under control of micro-controllers and varies speech intervals to vary output signal

The device plays music or speech over a telephone line while the caller is on hold. The device has a mains part, a speech memory (4) for storing digitised speech, a music memory (1) for storing digitised music, a programme memory, a CPU (5), a d-a converter (8,3) and an analog part with a filter (10), amplifier (11), line adaptor (12) and interface. Both the speech (4) and music (1) memories have a micro-controller (5,2). These call up data stored in the memories (4,1) and supply them to the d-a converter (8,3). The analog part has a mixing stage (9) which mixes the l.f. signals from both d-a converters (8,3). The micro-controller (5) of the speech memory (4) has a timer (6) for setting the speech interval. This micro-controller (5) controls the mixer (9). USE/ADVANTAGE - Music programme with connection message intervals in loop switched in while waiting for establishment of desired subscriber connection. Provides greater number of possible variations of acoustic output.
