The invention relates to the devices for simultaneously detecting all the magnetic states previously recorded over a specified length of magnetic tape (12) on a support (10). The device comprises : - a first means (16) for simultaneously detecting all the magnetic states encoded on the said magnetic tape (12) and providing electrical signals representative of the said magnetic states, - a second electronic means (17) for processing the said representative electrical signals so as to determine the meaning of the said magnetic states, and - a third means (18) for displaying the meaning of the said magnetic states. The invention is applicable to the reading of flexible magnetic labels on garments. <IMAGE>
