The seat belt reel has an expansion chamber (25). This is limited in the direction of rotation of the rotary piston (22) by a rotary vane (23) and against the direction of rotation by a swivelling flap (24). The flap is supported against the direction of rotation on a stop (27) formed on the motor housing, and is deflectable by the rotary vane. The rotary piston shaft (16) is arranged coaxially with the spool (11) and the carrier coupling (17) is placed immediately between the piston shaft and the spool.
