PURPOSE:To attain the improvement of operability and the increase of working efficiency by transiently retreating a document on a document placing plate outside an exposing region without ejecting the document to an ejected paper receiving part and automatically returning the transiently retreated document on the document placing plate by means of the release of an interruption copy mode, when it is selected while an automatic document feeder is used. CONSTITUTION:This automatic document feeder is constituted as follows; when an interruption key is depressed, the carrying roller 141 of a document carrying belt and a paper ejecting means 100 is driven to carry out an uncopied document D on a platen glass 3 and transiently retreat the document D outside the exposing region and at this time, the retreated document D is held by the carrying roller 141 and a pinch roller 142 so that when the interruption key is depressed again and the interruption copy mode is released, the carrying roller 141 and the document carrying belt are reversely rotated to automatically return the document D transiently retreated out of the exposing region to the exposing position of the platen glass 3. |
