A device for separating light liquids contains a coarse separator in which heavy particles are sedimented and at least one fine separator in which the floating light liquids are separated. The coarse separator is provided with insert elements which assist in the separation of the light liquids. The improvement features are that the coarse separator (2) inserts consist of a coagulation device (5), and the fine separator (7) is divided by a e.g. a wall (8) into two chambers, in the downstream chamber of which is a removable container (9) for a filter material such as mats of expanded or foamed material, activated carbon etc.. Pref. the filter container (9) is open at least on one side, and a wall is provided at a distance from this open side. The container may be provided with guides into which this wall is fitted. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for sepg mineral oils from liq in a process which includes a pretreatment of the contaminated liquid. Different filter materials, such as mats of expanded or foamed filter material or activated carbon, can easily be used. The intensity of cleaning can be regulated by the use of filter materials with different pore sizes. Excess oil is readily removed from the filter container.
