<p>The appts. for the disposal of metal waste, also matter contg. metal vapour, has a receptacle (1) with a grid (6) in a fluid to hold the material while it is broken into fragments. A conveyor (7) is below the grind (6) to carry off the mixture of broken glass and metal and the sludge formed, out from the side of the receptacle and upwards into a storage container. The conveyor (7) has a horizontal conveyor section (8) leading to a further section (9) at an upwards angle to carry material from the receptacle (1) to a container. The horizontal conveyor section (8) is a drag chain conveyor and the angled section (9) is a bucket conveyor. The conveyor (7) is located in a channel section at the base of the receptacle, leading upwards at one or both sides, leading to an external closed channel (10) containing the angled section (9), leading to a height level over the fluid level in the receptacle. The system is charged by an upper table, swinging upwards with an opening which is released and closed automatically on the swing movement, and is closed when the breaker is below the filling opening. A counter is at the table for the swing stroke. The breaker is a plate (4) moving up and down in the receptacle, or a swing unit with a number of parallel tined breaker arms. The conveyor can pass through a filter for floating matter. The receptacle can have a semi-circular cross-section with a vertical end wall, with the conveyor near the wall at its lowest point.
