Process for preparation of beta-cyanoalkylsilanes.

Beta-cyanoalkylsilanes of formula (I) are prepd. by contacting a Si hydride of formula HSiX3 (II) with an unsatd. olefinic nitrile of formula YCH=C(Y)CN (III) in the presence of an aminoorganosilane catalyst of formula Ra(RO)bSi(R1NR2(2))c (IV) on a solid support at 50-250 deg.C. In the formulae, R=1-20C monovalent hydrocarbon radical; R1=1-20C divalent hydrocarbon radical; R2=H, or from 1-20C monovalent hydrocarbon, aminoalkyl, alkylaminoalkyl, alkylaminodialkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, and polyaminoalkyl radicals; X=halogen; Y=H or 1-8C lower alkyl; a=0, 1, 2 or 3; b=0, 1, 2 or 3; c=1, 2, 3 or 4; and a+b+c=4.
