<p>Extruder for producing an elastomeric ply made up of three coaxial streams has channels (42), (50) and (60) formed by a stationary tube (45) and stationary members (52), (53) and (63, (64). Conical guides (41) and (67) are mounted intermediate the stationary members so as to be rotatable in opposite directions to deliver reinforcing cords (10) in concentric circles on the orifice plane (6A) and form helical reinforcement patterns. Each guide has a surface array of axial grooves to receive the cords and ensure a predetermined spacing. A method of forming the tubular elastomeric ply is also claimed.</p> |
