The invention relates to a device on an internal combustion engine with exhaust turbocharging and exhaust emission control, with a turbine arranged in the exhaust line system, at least one catalytic converter connected on the outlet side and a bypass line bypassing the turbine and controlled by a blow-off valve, the bypass line and the exhaust line being separately controlled and admitted to separate areas of the catalytic converter for faster starting-up of the catalytic converter. The blow-off valve may be deactivated in the cold running range.
