The invention relates to a cooling device in the form of an air/water heat exchanger or of a cooling apparatus having a cooling circuit which has a compressor, a condensor, an expansion valve and an evaporator and is fitted to a switching cabinet or to an electronics housing. In order to detect leaks, a leakage monitoring device is provided in the case of which liquid occurring in the condensation trough is detected by means of a resistance temperature sensor and an alarm signal can be emitted via an evaluation circuit.
