The invention relates to the laying of a raised floor (1) on a main floor (5). Raised floor slabs (3) are installed on the main floor (5) by means of screw jacks (31, 33, 63) with the screws (33) accessible from above through passages (25) in the slabs (1) for the purpose of adjusting the level. Level adjustments and corrections are thereby facilitated and direct interaction between the screws (33) of the jacks (31, 33, 63) and the tappings (31) in the passages (25) of the slabs (3) makes it possible to reduce the number of components and leads to great simplicity and economy in laying. <IMAGE>
