A process for determining the starting times of safety devices comprises the input of items of acceleration data which occur upon impact of a vehicle, the assessment of the state of the vehicle impact, and the determination of the starting times of safety devices, fitted in the vehicle, in accordance with the result of the assessment. Processing modes are switched, one after the other, corresponding to prestressing devices and air-bag devices, which are in each case fitted in the vehicle, in order thus to determine the starting times of the prestressing devices and of the air-bag devices independently of one another. The process can bring a plurality of safety devices, which are fitted in a vehicle, into operation at their respective, desired times. |
