The invention relates to a process and a device used for it in order to cut mouldings from a moulding compound, which is prepared with a curable binder, such as gypsum, concrete, synthetic resin or the like, by means of a cutting device, a knife or cutting wire in an industrial production process. Provision is made here for the cutting pressure to be constantly regulated as a function of the cutting depth, the material properties and operating parameters - by pressure sequence control. Provision is further made for the cutting device to be wetted before, during and/or after the cutting operation with a rinsing solution in order to reduce the cutting resistance and the corrosion of the cutting tool. Device and process are advantageously used for the production of concrete, cement and gypsum products such as roof tiles, concrete roof tiles (shingles), façade panels and the like.
