Appliance ventilation and water overflow protection device in domestic dishwashers

Water overflow protection devices must not come into action when appliances are working properly. In known dishwashers, for this purpose there is arranged downstream of the pressure-switch vessel a separate water-collecting chamber which accumulates water-carrying steam blasts brought about by maloperations and keeps them away from the float switch of the overflow protection device. In the dishwasher according to the invention, liquid expelled in the lowermost region of the washing container (2) by means of a lateral aperture (5) and a siphon (6, 6') connected thereto via the opening (8) of the latter is accumulated in a water-collecting chamber (9) and kept away from the water overflow protection device. The water-collecting chamber (9) is arranged at the bottom of the appliance base (10). In domestic dishwashers with blower (fan) drying, the opening (8) of the complete siphon (6, 6') serves at the same time as appliance ventilation means, through which dish-drying air is sucked in. <IMAGE>
