The object of the invention is to make available a novel type of nozzle which is suitable for use in those fire- extinguishing sprinkler heads which operate with a high liquid pressure. A helical spring 20 is arranged before the outlet opening 13 of the nozzle so that the liquid is caused to flow in a helical trajectory 23 between the coils of the spring, as a result of which the liquid is set in a strong vortex motion before exiting through the outlet opening of the nozzle. <IMAGE>
