The invention represents an analog/digital converter method which is based on a novel pulse modulation with constant pulse amplitude. Since the signal spectrum is completely contained as band-pass signal spectrum in the pulse modulation spectrum, the invention provides for a novel circuit conception of an analog/digital converter which does not need any "sample-and-hold" circuit and manages without high-precision components. Utilizing the VLSI technology, the converter method according to the invention provides the opportunity for implementing analog/digital converters with minimum analog circuit expenditure. This provides for extremely linear conversion. The digital circuit section essentially consists of pulse counters and FIR filters which handle the digitisation and coding.
