摘要 In particular in waterjet drives used in high-speed catamaran ships, it has been found that the internal combustion engines of the individual drive units achieve only a considerably lower number of running hours compared with internal combustion engines of the same type used in other ships before a major overhaul is required. In order to avoid or eliminate this disadvantage, the present invention starts from the knowledge that the reduced number of running hours which can be achieved by the internal combustion engine is caused by the propellers coming out of the water as a result of the state of the sea and by the internal combustion engine consequently accelerating rapidly to high speed. A control unit 1a, 1b is provided according to the invention in order to eliminate this problem. The max speed of the internal combustion engines, which can be set via the steering lever of the ship, can be reduced manually or automatically with this control unit 1a, 1b as a function of the state of the sea and/or the measured load incursions. <IMAGE>
