In heating installations, which are oil-fired, the operation of the oil burner should be interrupted during and after filling of the oil tank in order to avoid dirtying of the foot valve and of the oil filter in the oil suction line by swirled-up oil sludge. For this purpose, a device for interrupting the operation of the oil burner is envisaged, which has a time switch which can be actuated by hand or automatically and automatically stops the interruption of the operation again after a predetermined adjustable time period.
