PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbonic acid ester where monovalent alcohol and carbon dioxide are reacted in the presence of a solid catalyst and benzonitrile even if pressure lies in relatively low, mild reaction conditions to achieve the reaction of carboxylic acid ester at a high reaction speed and a high reaction rate, and further, by-produced benzamide is regenerated into benzonitrile and reutilized it, by-products are hardly generated other than water, and an environmental load is small.SOLUTION: There is provided a carbonic acid ester generation device containing: a first reaction step where monovalent alcohol and carbon dioxide are reacted in the presence of a solid catalyst and benzonitrile to generate carbonic acid ester and water and subsequently benzamide is generated by hydration reaction between the benzonitrile and the generated water; and a second reaction step where benzamide is separated from the first reaction step thereafter the benzamide is heated and is caused to dehydration reaction in the presence of a catalyst carried with a metal and also in the presence of an organic solvent so as to be regenerated into benzonitrile. The benzonitrile regenerated in the second reaction step is used in the first reaction step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
