Control process for light emitting beacon for maritime use providing coded light flash sequence

The control process is for a light source that includes a number of elementary sources (2) each including one or more light emitting diodes. An electrical generator (3) delivers a series of pulses to the elementary sources in order to produce a pattern of long and short light flashes. The control process involves first determining the light characteristics of each source, and storing this information in a reference table. The electrical signal applied to each elementary source is then corrected by reference to the table, in order to ensure that the light emitted by the different elements is similar. A second correction may be applied so tha that the light intensity perceived by an observer is similar for short and long flashes.
