A method and apparatus for coating a workpiece (30), such as galvanising a workpiece. A vessel (15) is provided with molten metal, and an induction coil (12) is disposed about the vessel (15). The induction coil (12) induces a magnetic field (16) within the vessel such that a meniscus (20) of molten metal is formed above the vessel (15), through which a workpiece (30) is passed.
