Indirect gravure or pad printing

The printing process for multi-colour printing, using indirect gravure or pad printing, uses a frequency modulated screen for at least one ground colour for at least one section of the image. An ink is used which sets in ultra-violet light, esp. an acrylic ink. Also claimed is a printing plate (1) with a number of small recesses (6,7) in a screen, in at least a stoichastic distribution in the screen. The plate is of plastics or metal, and esp. a photopolymer, a steel plate or steel strip.
