The method involves using a transportable cubicle (1) with a door (2) which has an airtight seal (12). The door gives access to an enclosure (13) contg. an emergency circuit-breaker (14), a display (15), input/output elements (16/17), a weighing scale (18) and a range of weights (36) hung on an inside wall (35). The enclosure is pressurised from a reservoir via control and pressure regulation valves. An electronic controller stores the vol. of the empty cubicle and responds to measurements of temp., pressure, body wt. and air flow. The vol. of air around the body is calculated and subtracted from the empty vol.
