The bracing of only one side face of the mast supporting the elevator consists of trapezoidal plates (34). The parallel edges of these plates are welded to two of the vertical support booms (26,30). A toothed rack (28) for guiding the load-carrying device is attached to the one of the booms (26) in such a way that a large portion at least of the loads transmitted from the load-carrying device to the mast is initiated in the plane of the plates. The cross-section of the boom (26) welded to the rack is rectangular, while the other booms (30,32) each consist of a tube of circular cross-section.
