The system which allows accessibility to an article placed too high or too far back on a movable shelf comprises a reduction motor (1) which is activated by optical sensors (4,5). The motor drives a toothed belt (6) which in turn drives a roller (2a). The roller drives a conveyor (3) which is supported underneath by rollers (8) able to support heavy loads. The movable shelf is supported by two lateral steel braces (7). The conveyor displaces the articles as far as the level of the sensors which are activated by obstruction of these articles. The sensors then give a release signal for advancing the motor. The system is only operated when the user removes the article obstructing the optical sensor.
