The continuous grinding units (12,14) are positioned on the same slider (10) running at right angles to the edge of the glass plate. One of the units is movable at right angles to the edge of the glass plate. Sensors control the feed movements of the units. The second continuous grinding unit (14) travels on the slider in relation to the forward thrust direction of the glass plate. The sensors feel the front edge of the glass plate transverse to the direction of forward thrust, and feel the back edge.
