Electric plug connection unit

The unit has a first plug connector (4) which is arranged in the wall (12) of a housing (1) containing electric and/or electronic components, and is accessible from outside. A second plug connector (5) is attached or attachable to the end of a flexible cable (2) and can be releasably connected to the first connector (4). Each plug connector (4,5) has several plug contacts. The second connector (5) is fixed on, or in, a water-tight protective housing (14) and is accessible from the plug side (11). When the plugs are connected, the protective housing (14) lies around the first connector (4) on the housing wall (12) and covers both connectors (4,5) like a hood. A seal (39) is arranged in the contact area between the wall (12) and the protective housing (14). The seal (39), viewed in the plug-in direction (13) fully encloses the first connector (4) and any apertures (8,38) near it.
