The turbocharger has a compressor runner and a turbine runner which share a shaft. The turbine rotor (5) has a shaft butt (36) on its rear face. This engages into a bore (39) in the shaft (2). The piston (32) is located on the turbine-sided shaft end. It has an internal diameter, which is mainly smaller than the external diameter of the shaft butt.Shaft butt and shaft bore extend over the axial area of the turbine-sided bearing (4'). Shaft and shaft butt are irremovably connected to each other by rotary kneading. The compressor rotor is located on a bolt, which is also connected to the shaft by rotary kneading.
