The bell system has at least one bell (4) and a bell button arrangement. The latter has at least one button (3) and at least one identification panel. The buttons (3) and bells (4) or the microphone and loud speaker (12) are connected via a bus system. The bells and buttons may be connected via the bus system to a microcontroller (5). The identification panel for aiding in mail allocation may be an electronically controlled display. Sensors for different emergency situations, e.g. fire, flooding, burglary, may be connected to the microcontroller. The system may include a card leader for opening the door lock. The device may be connected to a telephone network for remote control.
