Fabric cooling device used in medical procedure

The cooling device has a coolant-filled pouch (3) which is brought into contact with the fabric (2). The coolant has a circuit including a pump(4) and a cold store(7). The cold store has a tank 915) with a freezing medium (5), with which the cooling circuit is thermally coupled via a heat exchanger (6). On the cold store are two unions between the heat exchanger and the rest of the coolant circuit. These are self- closing couplings (10,11). The heat exchanger comprises a solenoidal pipe (12) immersed in the freezing medium. The medium is contained in an insulating compartment (13) inside the tank. The flow rate of the coolant is adjustable by varying the pump speed.
